Shark Weekend in Washington DC
Just when you thought it was safe to back into the aquarium. It’s Shark Weekend in Washington DC. For anyone who enjoys a fascination with these amazing ocean predators, the National Aquarium in Washington DC will be celebrating Shark Weekend on Saturday, July 28th and Sunday, July 29th.
Learn more about these fascinating, often misunderstood creatures from leading experts, including their history, how they live their everyday lives and their habits. There will be a special shark scavenger hunt, shark-centric arts and crafts, an opportunity to watch them feed (2pm on Saturday) and the chance to touch an actual shark tooth. You can even make your very own shark T-shirt! After you’re done with your shark-tastic adventures, explore any of the four main exhibits featuring more than 1500 animal species. The National Marine Sanctuary exhibit, America’s Freshwater Ecosystems exhibit, Amphibians Gallery and Amazon River Basin Gallery are all fascinating showcases for some amazing water-dwelling animals. You can even watch aquarium workers feed the piranha on Sunday at 2pm.
Shark Weekend in Washington DC takes place from 10am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday. The aquarium itself will be open from 9am to 5pm. Admission is just $9.95 per adult, $8.95 for military members and seniors (ages 60+), $4.95 for kids ages 3-11 and free to all children under the age of 3. Get a safe, up close and personal look at the life, history and habits of the great predators of the ocean during Shark Weekend in Washington DC.
